Always a mix between degen and melee-shutdown. Plenty of melee in AB and stripping attunements helps on the long run.

Oh, and please don't spam all the skills onto ONE opponent as so many players do. Spread shutdown and degen.

Dont worry, I dont spam everything on one opponent (except if he ventures out alone to frag a poor unsuspecting squishy and I have time to recharge everything afterwards

Usually I cast IP on the sins (faster hitting = faster lifestealing) weakness on warriors and defile enchants on anyone in a group with the yellow up arrow by the name.

This way I can take up to 2 melee easily (3 at a streach.. but 3 sins at once takes me down fast

). I just wish there were an elite version of IP which would attach to everyone in a group.... but I guess that would be way too overpowered against a team of 4 melees

I prefere Plague Signet over touch as you dont have to be in melee range of rangers to give them their conditions back to them, and it recharges faster.

I normally only run a curses based necro when I know I'm grouping with friends since I hardly take any red bar goes up skill outside of signet of lost souls. Quite frankly, they are best used when your team mates can actually capitalize on the hexes you throw up since it's fairly difficult to cap shrines efficiently without your group especially if you come across mesmer shrines and the like.

Screenshot is an example of an opposing ranger who got extremely pissed off at the fact that he couldn't do anything and proceeded to message me about it. The dialogue got worse later with racial slurs etc. I can't say I disagree that the build is worthless on its own but in a group...?

Obviously, verata's and chilblains are my anti-scrub fun skills and should probably be replaced unless you really can't resist the urge to play with opposing shadowform sins and the like. I can't - after all, AB is for giggles anyway. This was before the RM and SR rebalance though and it is rather mindless to play.

one thing to keep in mind of is to never put SS and IP on rangers. instead, use miss hexes like reckless haste and price of failure. this is because rangers have very low attack rates and you won't get much return from SS and IP. the only thing you'll get them to do with SS and IP on them is that they will stop auto attacking, which doesn't prevent them from shooting that killer interrupt that will break you.

putting some miss hexes will slow them down by quite alot, since they have very low attack rates and depend on each shot to count. having that shot miss will hurt them a lot more.

I like Faintheartedness on rangers.

Also, as a Curses necro in AB, I never go without either enchant removal or something else to punish them for having one.

I find [skill]corrupt enchantment[/skill] and [skill]reaper's mark[/skill] to be the best two necro elites in AB. I tend to run reaper's mark as it's more consistent -- you won't always have someone around with an enchantment on them to corrupt, but you can always reaper's mark something. It also results in even more insane energy income from soul reaping, to power the rest of the rather expensive curses line.

With reaper's mark I then bring [skill]rip enchantment[/skill] for removing enchantments, as it's on a short recharge, although unlike corrupt enchantment, which heavily punishes any enchantment, even one that lasts only a few seconds, I tend to use rip enchantment mainly against longer duration enchantments.
